Movie about the groaner?

There has been a movie about Al Jolson, Frank Sinatra, and soon a movie about Dean Martin. Isn't it about time they made a movie about Bing Crosby who I believe is greater than these three put together. He has lead an interesting life too, lots of ups and downs, his battle with drinking in his early carrer, his marriage with Dixie Lee, his start and early finish with Paul Whiteman, his stint with Mac Sennet, Radio and Movies and his battle with Frank Sinatra. NOW this is a great movie. I never knew anything about Al Jolson until I saw "The Jolson Story" and heard his songs and the way he sang it, which made me rent Jolson Sings again and now they are permanently part of my video collection. I think making a movie about Crosby and hearing his version of White Christmas and all his other great songs will make the younger (my generation) generation discover and appreciate him more.

Ron Hall of Festival Films has completed a script for just such a movie that he is attempting to market to Hollywood. You may recall that a few years ago Ron helped produce a video biography of Bing's rise to fame that was filled with rare clips. His script focuses on Bing's move from Spokane through his years with the Whiteman orchestra and then culminates with the ascent of his solo career in 1931. Don't expect to hear "White Christmas" in Ron's movie, however! At one point Ron wanted Matthew McConaughey to play Bing. The Texas Rangers, however, may have other plans for Matthew, however.
